The location of the Center has been selected due to its exceptional access to the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, at the center of the region of interest. It is located at a very well-known community, Skarinou, by the motorway linking Larnaca and Limassol.

Traditionally, the community was a resting place for people travelling from Nicosia and Larnaca to Limassol and back. Regarding the origin of the name of the village, there are two known versions. The first one is based on the name of the area in Medieval maps, where it’s stated as S. Harino (perhaps Saint Hariton). The second version relates to the meaning of the occupation or the name of the first inhabitant, known as “Skarinos”, i.e. shepherd who would lead his herd at night.
