COMPOSTING

Composting is a natural process which transforms organic waste (fruits, vegetables pruning) into dark, rich substance. This substance is called compost or humus or ground-conditioner.

Composting is a very direct and significant recycling method. It has been calculated that 35% of domestic wastes can be transformed into compost.

The Environmental Information Center of the Mountainous Region of Larnaca organized a public lecture for this very important topic, on December 4, 2012. The speaker was Mr. Charalampos Theopemptou, Commissioner of the Environment.
